How you can describe web designer? On my opinion, this is a person who can talk a lot about other´s work, can show CV with 2-3 pages of some scripting, drawing and programming software knowledge, in the same time they are uncapable to do something usefull by their own. Well, this is by my own sad experience when I dealt with "great web designers" and this is why I decided to study everything on my own. You know what? I´m really enjoying it and I want to share my knowledge. I hope my own experience will be usefull for you as well.
I just want to express my opinion about some more important steps when building Web page.
- Can you read the page easy?
- Does this page work under most popular web browsers and OS? I mean, Web Browsers such as Firefox, Opera, IE 6 and 7, Safari, under OS such as Windows, Linux, Mac.
- Is the Web page valid under The W3C Markup Validation Service?
XHTML what! HTML died years ago, no really it did, try to use XHTML where possible its a little more complicated but far more logical. There are plenty of tutorials on using XHTML.
I think – these are the most important factors for good web page. Of course, the worst what can do web page builder is to make page with MS word, that sucks, really, believe me!!! Or using tables for making page. Tables are for data, and only for data – instead use css. Yes, I know, that's not easy, and thanks to MS IE which makes situation even worst.
